Animals Around the World Mural
Painted in the neighborhood where I grew up, this mural depicts wildlife from across the world to teach children about the diversity in the neighborhood and through animals. I hope to inspire children to recognize how lucky we are to share the same planet as these species and remain open-minded about our world.
Artist Statement: Viewers are taken on a journey worldwide, starting with the vibrant pink flamingo from the Caribbean, its feathers spread gracefully, catching the glowing sunlight. Below, a beautiful emerald tree boa is wrapped around a thick branch, they can be found throughout Central and South America. Nearby, a coquí frog hops on a branch, calling out its famous song emblematic of Puerto Rico. Above it, the most beloved animal of India, the Bengal tiger, looks into the distance with incredible strength and beauty. From the grasslands of Ghana, an African elephant stands grounded with confidence, extending its trunk out of the frame to forage. Representing the Philippines, a tiny tarsier monkey holds on tight to the elephant’s trunk, its enormous eyes taking note of even the slightest movement. In the corner, a delicate hummingbird from Colombia is about to drink the flower’s nectar, while butterflies from every corner of the globe are settled on the branch.
