HER STORY.

Micaela Levesque is a Connecticut-based mural artist with Colombian roots whose work spans Connecticut, New England, and international locations including Italy, Mexico, and Colombia.

She began oil painting in high school, quickly becoming captivated by the medium—so much so that she would skip other classes just to spend more time in the art room. Her first commissioned work came at sixteen, painting for a local Puerto Rican restaurant, where she first discovered the thrill of sharing her art with the public. These early experiences sparked a curiosity that shaped the way she perceives the world, encouraging her to slow down, observe, and develop a deep appreciation for the details in the natural world around her.

Her murals explore themes such as feminine power, immigration, history, music, nature and wildlife, and cultural narratives, translating lived experience into stories that are both personal and universal. Working primarily in realism, she uses public art to reclaim space for voices, bodies, and ecosystems often overlooked, portraying women and wildlife as symbols of resilience, intuition, and quiet strength. Portraits, human emotion, light, and color remain central to her practice, alongside landscapes and cultural storytelling, allowing her work to bridge imagination and observation.

Rooted in fine arts and guided by a love for spray paint, Levesque creates immersive, large-scale murals reaching up to 3,000 square feet. Her practice is inherently adventurous, taking her into new environments and communities where she engages fully—body, mind, and spirit. Her murals inhabit a wide range of public spaces—from university campuses to underserved neighborhoods—grounded in community collaboration, meticulous craftsmanship, and a curiosity about the world. Her murals are a full-bodied practice: her movement shapes the work, and her spirit ignites vitality within each story.

Inspired by her Colombian roots, her artwork pays homage to Colombia’s rich biodiversity, often incorporating vibrant flora and fauna. Through her murals, Levesque creates immersive experiences that invite viewers to pause, reflect, and feel the interconnectedness of life. There is a quiet magic in her process: the glint of sunlight across painted leaves or the subtle layers of colors that bring human figures to life. Her work transforms ordinary spaces into extraordinary experiences, celebrating resilience, curiosity, and the enduring wonder of the world—both near and far.
